Articles to Grow

Am I Wrong, or Just Untranslated?

Before you call a choice lazy, rebellious, unrealistic, or ungrateful, ask what future the person is trying to move toward—and whether the problem is the person or the map they were given.

Am I Wrong, or Just Untranslated?

A better map for difficult moments

When everything is treated as a character flaw, people hide. When every boundary is treated as a preference, people get hurt. When every social rule is treated as morality, difference becomes shame. A better category makes a better response possible.

Life Map

Behavior has direction. A choice may point toward belonging, freedom, safety, mastery, beauty, meaning, or relief. Ask what life the person is trying to build, then turn vague longing into small experiments and evidence.

Untranslated Self

Sometimes the issue is not a defect in the person. It may be a mismatch between temperament, values, pace, sensitivity, calling, and the system around them. Look for the settings where the person becomes clearer, kinder, braver, or more capable.

Question the plan without insulting the person

Respecting someone’s direction does not mean approving every dream. Name the future, separate desire from plan, gather evidence, and run a small real-world test before making a large decision.

An untranslated self is not an excuse to avoid growth. It is a warning not to confuse misfit with failure.
